Nazarene Safe
The District Advisory Board has tasked all Sacramento District Nazarene churches with being fully Nazarene Safe compliant by the next annual reporting period.
In an ongoing effort to resource our local churches to provide a safer environment for children, youth and adults, and meet Nazarene requirements, the Sacramento District has developed steps that will maintain the local churches' Nazarene Safe compliance.
The Sacramento District has also appointed a team of Nazarene Safe Resource Coordinators to act as a sounding board and provide resource support as churches maintain Nazarene Safe compliance.
The following steps will maintain a church’s annual compliance:
-
Submit a new or revised Minor Protection Policy (MPP) for the current year to be approved by your board and sent to the District Office.
-
Submit a list of those who serve with minors, including their background checks and training renewal dates.
-
Fingerprint background check done through Live Scan.
-
-
Submit the training resource used and training plan to complete the annual minor protection training.
Nazarene Safe Coordinator Responsibilities
The Sacramento District has developed a team of Nazarene Safe (NS) Resource Coordinators. This team exists to help local churches navigate through the NS minimum requirements so each church has both a written policy and a viable plan for enacting that policy.
Nazarene Safe Resource Coordinators:
-
Are available to respond to direct requests from churches looking for help with training, writing a policy and/or running trainings when the local church feels they can’t do it themselves.
-
Review the annual questionnaire all lead pastors are required to fill out in our district and follow up on answers that indicate non-compliance.
-
Be a sounding board when churches have issues that don’t obviously require an immediate report to the DS.
-
Serve at the request of the DS, on a “fact-finding committee” in the event of an accusation that moves to the next stage.
-
